The Giant's Causeway is an amazing mass of around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, resulting from an historic volcanic eruption. The mainly hexagonal columns are generally best photographed around sunrise or sunset. This image was taken shortly after sunrise, when there were no other visitors. [+]

There is a great contrast between the texture of the surface of the basalt columns and the background that softly smelts in the haze. This is a very beautiful black and white capture of this spot, Jon.
