About photographer

I began my career in 1976 in the genre of portrait photography, focusing on photographing leading German politicians, including Willy Brandt, Helmut Schmidt and Helmut Kohl. In 1977 I joined "Stern Magazine", for which I worked as a staff-photographer until 1986. I created a total of 29 cover pictures for the magazine, won numerous awards for my creative work and got appointed as member of the German Art Directors Club. In the following 14 years I worked as a freelance photographer for magazines such as Vogue, Amica and The New Yorker before returning to "Stern" in 2000 as its art director. My exhibition "Where God Resides", which was completed in the same year, was presented internationally, including at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. The photo book of the same name quickly became a bestseller. In 2005 I founded the magazine "View" and became its editor-in-chief until 2008. Since then have been realising my own photographic art projects.
