This picture was taken from a high cliff above a black lava beach between Höfn and Djupivogur in the East of Iceland, in winter. Some fulmars (fulmarus glacialis) were flying circles above the beach and the sea, probably in search of food. I was very much attracted by the graphic lines of the snow, the black sand and the water and the fulmar seemed to fit in very well. I waited for the right moment, when the fulmar was flying into the picture above the snow. [+]

Theo, you have made a rare picture with its graphism and its beautiful monochromatic tone. The texture is incredible, the lines are fascinating and the fulmar perfectly composed.
