My interest in photography was initiated by my father, himself an accomplished amateur photographer, and developed further through my travels overseas where I found the eye of the camera allowed me to view my surroundings in greater depth.
Inspired, and subsequently mentored, by renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite, I was encouraged to develop my photography further and so it is to him I owe much gratitude for supporting me and helping me find my path in life. Aside of photography my greatest passion is travel so I am at my happiest whilst exploring the great outdoors and seeking to capture the immense diversity and beauty of our world on camera.
2009 saw of the publication of my first book; 'A year in the life of Westonbirt' and I am now working on my second project. That same year, wishing to pass my knowledge on to others, I set up Image Seen and now run landscape photography workshops throughout the UK as well as offering tailored one to one tuition. 2014 saw the first of my overseas workshops in Tuscany and the Ariege with these, plus Andalucia and the Cinque Terre planned for 2016
As a creative tool the camera has allowed me to express my love of the landscape. I believe that what is often seen simply as an instrument to record images can in fact allow an individual great opportunity for creative expression. Photography has certainly changed my life in the sense that it’s opened my eyes and made me really ‘see' what is around me. Through it, I have found my vision has become more fine-tuned and I now look at my surroundings completely differently. With a greater appreciation of the landscape I feel I have also developed a greater connection.
