I grew up in Fall River, MA, where I spent my childhood searching for amphibians, reptiles and insects and exploring other hidden natural treasures. In 1992, I moved to the western part of the state to pursue my bachelor’s degree in exercise science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Following graduation, I participated in a three month canoeing expedition in a remote region of the Northwest Territories of Canada. I purchased my first camera (a 35mm Nikon 6006 SLR) to document this adventure, and have been taking photos ever since. During my many outdoor explorations, my love for the natural world grew. In 1998, I decided to turn his passions for the natural world and photography into a full-time profession as a nature/landscape photographer. My camera has since followed me to such places as the Bugaboos in British Columbia, the rainforests and mountainous regions of the west coast, the everglades and countless National Parks. However, my favorite photographic subjects are what I discovers each morning as I explores my own backyard. Most of the images in my galleries were captured within 30 miles of my home in Massachusetts.
My goal as a nature photographer is to show others that the beauty and magic of the natural world is waiting to be explored in our own backyards. My belief is that we need not travel far but instead slow down and be present where we are to "see" and to experience the magic of the natural world. My hope is that in viewing my photographs, people will be inspired to be present, explore and learn about the wild places around them and appreciate the beauty in the natural world that surrounds them in their everyday lives.
